Paul Fischer is an author and film producer based in the United Kingdom. His first book, A Kim Jong-Il Production, was published by Penguin in the UK and Flatiron Books in the US in 2015 and has been translated into sixteen languages. It was praised by Bob Odenkirk and the writing staff of The Simpsons and was nominated for the Crime Writers' Association's Non-Fiction Book Award, as well as chosen as one of the Best Books of 2015 by NPR and the Library Journal.

Paul’s second book, The Man Who Invented Motion Pictures, was published in the spring of 2022, to critical acclaim, by Simon & Schuster in the US and Faber & Faber in the UK.

Paul has also written for the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, the Independent, Bright Wall / Dark Room, and the Narwhal, among others, about everything from North Korean refugees to the British Columbia craft beer industry.

His first feature screenplay, The Body, based on a short film of his conception, was produced by Blumhouse and Hulu in 2018, starring Tom Bateman (Vanity Fair), Rebecca Rittenhouse (The Mindy Project), Aurora Perrineau (Westworld) and David Hull (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend). He also co-wrote Hannah Macpherson’s Pure (2018). An occasional producer, he produced the feature documentary Radioman (2012), winner of the Doc NYC Grand Jury Prize and longlisted for a Grierson Award.
